Game of Thrones season 6 may welcome back two characters who were believed to be dead when it airs next spring.

Spoiler warning!

A Song of Ice and Fire fansite Watchers on the Wall reports that Rory McCann, who plays The Hound, has been recently spotted at a hotel frequently used by HBO and the cast of the series. The website feels that their source is reliable, noting that they “provided [the site with] reliable information going back several years.”

In Game of Thrones season 4, Arya left the Hound for dead after he lost a fight to the formidable Brienne. It didn’t look like he had much of a chance of surviving, but it’s worth noting that Arya opted not to kill him, even when he asked, which means we might yet see him alive — or, as fans have speculated, he might return by some other means.

Sandor Clegane is, after all, the little brother of Gregor “the Mountain” Clegane, who was revealed at the end of Game of Thrones season 5 to be alive — or re-animated — by the hand of Qyburn. Could Gregor have suffered a similar fate?

Watcher’s on the Wall says McCann has no other reason to be in Belfast (He currently has no other projects scheduled), which further suggests he’s in town for Thrones.

The news comes just a few weeks after another recently killed cast member — you can guess who — was spotted returning to Belfast wearing his/her usual Game of Thrones features.

With Game of Thrones now caught up with George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series, there’s no telling what lies ahead for either the television show or the books. With each passing day it seems more and more likely that season 6 of Thrones will premiere before the The Winds of Winter.

Can you imagine The Hound making a return in ‘Thrones’ season 6?
