HBO has officially announced the Game of Thrones season 6 premiere date, returning fans to the the world of Westeros as the weather turns warm.

Game of Thrones season 6 will premiere on Sunday, April 24, in its accustomed 9:00 p.m. slot.

April 24 is the latest date that a season of Game of Thrones has ever premiered. (Season 5 debuted on April 12.) The delay is attributed to Vinyl, HBO’s newest dramatic darling, produced by Martin Scorsese and Mick Jagger. That show’s ten-episode run kicks off on Feb. 14, pushing the Game of Thrones season 6 premiere date to the end of April.

Information is still relatively scarce about what lies ahead for Westeros and beyond, in no small part because Game of Thrones is now officially rolling past the published material in George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series. Martin recently confirmed that the hotly-anticipated sixth book in the series, The Winds of Winter, will not be published before the Game of Thrones season 6 premiere.

However, some clues have been offered as to the contents of the season. The so-totally-not-dead Jon Snow recently appeared in a bloody poster, and based on our first photo of season 6, Bran Stark is set to step (or perhaps fly) back into the fray of events.

Bran and his mentor, the Three-Eyed Raven, narrate an ominous teaser about the events of the future — and just as importantly, the events of the past.

In addition to the Game of Thrones season 6 premiere date, HBO announced the return of their back-to-back comedies Silicon Valley and Veep. New seasons of both shows will also premiere on April 24, airing respectively at 10:00 and 10:30, after the devastating events of Game of Thrones have concluded for the evening.
