Liam Cunningham previewed a new scene for Ser Davos from Game of Thrones season 6, while teasing everything he can’t talk about.

Cunningham, who plays the unnaturally kind and loyal Ser Davos Seaworth, appeared on Conan to promote the new season of HBO’s epic fantasy series. During his interview with Conan, the actor confessed that author George R.R. Martin had told him a secret about the series’ highly-anticipated (and far from imminent) end-game.

“He said, ‘I’ve got something to tell you.’ And he leaned in and told me this secret, and he said, ‘Don’t tell anybody!'” Cunningham reports. “So I’m not — telling anybody!”

Cunningham and Conan also joke about Cunningham being held to secrecy upon threat of death by HBO-hired sniper, which quickly “materialized” when Conan raised the question of Jon Snow’s fate.

Though Cunningham couldn’t divulge anything serious, he was able to share a clip from Game of Thrones season 6, which features Jon Snow’s corpse. A brief moment from the clip is visible at the end of the first major trailer for the upcoming season, and is presumably from the season premiere.

The clip from Game of Thrones season 6 appears to show Ser Davos defending Jon Snow’s corpse against Alliser Thorne, Olly, and the other plotters in the Lord Commander’s murder. Why? Well, that’s hard to say… but perhaps the title and synopsis of the premiere offer some hint.

The episode is titled “The Red Woman,” — a clear reference to Melisandre — and opts for a brief, blunt explanation:

“Jon Snow is dead,” HBO says. “Daenerys meets a strong man. Cersei sees her daughter again.”

It’s the hope of many that Jon Snow will be resurrected by Melisandre in R’hlloric ritual. While both HBO and actor Kit Harington seem determined to quash that hope, we can’t help but appreciate the connection between Jon’s death and Melisandre in HBO’s materials.

Either way, we’re glad we don’t have long to wait.

The Game of Thrones season 6 premiere, “The Red Woman,” airs Sunday, April 24 at 9:00 p.m. on HBO.
