Brienne of Tarth and Jon Snow both speak from the heart in new clips from Game of Thrones season 5.

Update (4:00 p.m. eastern): The first poster for season 5 has arrived and depicts Tyrion Lannister, a ship, and a dragon!

The clips, which come from the promotional game called “The Sight”, are presented in the form of visions granted by the Three-Eyed Raven. In contrast to earlier teases from the game, these clips are excerpts from scenes rather than heavily-edited flickering montages.

Though their appearances are brief, both Brienne and Jon have significant things to say. The clips offer a look at the characters’ political and emotional status as Game of Thrones season 5 begins – and not all is sunshine and roses.

The first clip focuses on Brienne speaking to Podrick Payne; as expected, the knight-in-all-but-name is rather the worse for wear at the moment.

Ground down by pain and the ongoing war, it looks like Brienne may be looking to part ways from poor Podrick. We can only hope that Pod sticks beside his new master. He may be bumbling, but Brienne really shouldn’t be alone right now.

The next clip features Jon Snow offering a question to the former King Beyond the Wall, Mance Rayder.

It seems – unsurprisingly – that there may be some tension between Mance and his new captor, Stannis Baratheon. It’s not clear exactly what cause Jon is speaking for here, or why he wants Mance to set aside his imagined pride, but it is very evident that the lines of communication between the southerners and the wildlings aren’t exactly crystal clear yet.

But no worries, Stannis is very patient.

Game of Thrones season 5 will premiere on Sunday, April 12 at 9:00 p.m. on HBO.
