Get ready for an action-packed Game of Thrones season 4! Actor Kit Harington (Jon Snow) teases big fight scenes in a new interview.

Filming for Game of Thrones season 4 is in full swing (pun absolutely intended), and Access Hollywood has caught up with Kit Harington to discuss his character’s role this year.

The last time we saw Jon Snow, he managed to escape from the wildlings, making like a pincushion full of Ygritte’s (Rose Leslie) arrows.

But, mild spoiler alert, the character does survive his current predicament, at least long enough to make it back to Castle Black for what he calls an “action packed” season 4.

“I’ve got a lot to do this season,” he reveals, and also clarifies that he will only be shooting in Northern Ireland this year, not in Iceland – which means no big panning shots of Jon Snow in the snow.

But don’t worry, there’s a lot more than landscaping to look forward to in Jon’s season 4 arc. “There’s a hell of a lot of fight scenes,” Harington promises.

“There’s a lot of blood, there’s a lot of gore. It’s more action packed then any season we’ve done so far.”

Also in the Access Hollywood interview, the actor joins the chorus of enthusiastic cast and crew members who have praised the writing for season 4, calling it, “my favourite so far.”

He explains, “I’m always – in a very pessimistic way – waiting for them to drop the ball, and then we got [the scripts for] season 4 … and it’s brilliant.”

Game of Thrones season 4 premieres spring 2014. It roughly chronicles the second half of A Storm of Swords, the third novel in George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire saga.
