Update: Read our recap of tonight’s episode!

Though death is never far from center stage in Westeros, it looks like the Stranger will play a starring role when Game of Thrones season 4, episode 7 airs tonight. The episode, titled “Mockingbird,” will focus on Tyrion’s struggle for vindication, as dangerous forces creep closer to other central characters.

The official synopsis for Game of Thrones season 4, episode 7 says:

Tyrion enlists an unlikely ally. Daario entreats Dany to allow him to do what he does best. Jon’s warnings about the Wall’s vulnerability fall on deaf ears. Brienne follows a new lead on the road with Pod.

Daario, Jon, and Brienne were all absent from last week’s episode of Game of Thrones, which focused primarily on Tyrion’s rivetingly rigged trial. Though Jaime cut a lopsided deal with Tywin to save his brother’s life, Shae’s devastating testimony shattered Tyrion’s control and pushed him to demand a trial by combat.

In other news, Stannis and Davos convinced the Iron Bank to loan them a boatload of money, while Daenerys found that ruling was more complicated than conquering. Meanwhile, Yara Greyjoy mounted a failed attempt to rescue Theon, and Ramsay Snow groomed his pet to play the role of the man he used to be.

It was all seriously twisted – and the preview for “Mockingbird” indicates that tonight’s episode will be no less intense.

While it’s clear that Tyrion’s trial will remain a major focus of Game of Thrones season 4, episode 7, it looks like temperatures will be rising in the Riverlands, the Vale, and the North – even as winter looms.

Still photos from “Mockingbird” suggest that Sansa may find herself out in the cold, while things heat up in a different way between Dany and the dashing Daario Naharis.

Just look at that dress. Nobody wears something like that just lying around the palace!

Game of Thrones season 4, episode 7, “Mockingbird,” airs tonight at 9:00 p.m. on HBO.
