Battles of the body and the mind are being fought in the preview and stills for Game of Thrones season 4, episode 5.

Conflicts that have been heating up for the past few weeks will finally begin to boil when Game of Thrones season 4, episode 5 airs on May 4. The episode, titled “First of His Name,” will feature the coronation of Tommen Baratheon as the lord of the Seven Kingdoms.

But by the looks of the preview and stills, that relatively significant event will pale in comparison to the physical and psychological conflicts that plague everyone from beyond the Wall to Meereen.

The preview for Game of Thrones season 4, episode 5 makes it clear that Dany doesn’t intend on getting comfortable in her third slaver city. The promo also sets on Tommen’s coronation, and how the new, pliable king will effect the political viper’s nest of King’s Landing.

Also featured is Lysa Arryn, Catelyn Stark’s sister and Lady of the Vale. Lysa has not been seen on Game of Thrones since season 1, but we anticipate big things from her reappearance.

Oh, and Arya stabs the Hound… but maybe it’s just a flesh wound?

The still photos for “First of His Name” include a shot from the presumed scene of stabbiness, as well as images of a wary-looking Sansa and an unexpected détente between Cersei Lannister and Oberyn Martell.

The official synopsis for Game of Thrones season 4, episode 5 suggests that everyone is looking toward the future as the new king takes the Iron Throne.

Cersei and Tywin plot the Crown’s next move. Dany discusses future plans. Jon embarks on a new mission.

Interestingly, there is no word of Tyrion. Does this indicate a reprieve for the embattled Lannister, or darker forces at work?

Game of Thrones season 4, episode 5, “First of His Name,” will air on Sunday, May 4 at 9:00 p.m. on HBO.
