The long-awaited premiere is almost here, and a new preview and stills hint at what to expect in Game of Thrones season 4, episode 1!

It’s been a long time in coming, but winter is finally almost here. Game of Thrones season 4, episode 1 will premiere this Sunday, and a new preview and still photos offer a vivid look at the intrigue and drama of the first episode.

The official synopsis for Sunday’s premiere, titled “Two Swords,” hints at several comings and goings which will arrange the pieces in this season’s epic “game.”

Tyrion welcomes a guest to King’s Landing. At Castle Black, Jon Snow finds himself unwelcome. Dany is pointed to Meereen, the mother of all slave cities. Arya runs into an old friend.

The new preview for Game of Thrones season 4, episode 1, shared by Winter Is Coming, begins with a focus on Daenerys as she leads her army of former slave soldiers toward Meereen. But it quickly becomes clear that Dany is in a dangerous position – and not only because of her enemies.

No one else seems to be entirely comfortable in the rest of the preview for “Two Swords” either. Jaime Lannister is finding opposition where he expected love, Jon Snow urges warnings on men who think him a traitor, and Oberyn Martell offers Tyrion as veiled threat right in King’s Landing.

Or maybe Prince Oberyn was being friendly; this is Game of Thrones, after all.

Offering another view of the upcoming season, a slew (no pun intended) of new images has recently been released. Most of the still photos appear to be from Game of Thrones season 4, episode 1 – and a few might offer a look at further upcoming episodes.

We are rather partial to those images of Dany and her dragons, though Tyrion – however wary – looks pretty darn cool too.

Game of Thrones season 4, episode 1, “Two Swords,” will air on Sunday, April 6 at 9:00 p.m. on HBO.
