The cast of Game of Thrones season 4 poses and laughs in behind-the-scenes videos from their recent shoot for Vanity Fair.

The Game of Thrones-centric issue of Vanity Fair will hit stands tomorrow, complete with several photographs of the cast of HBO’s hit fantasy series. The images, taken by legendary photographer Annie Leibovitz, feature most of the cast of Game of Thrones season 4 on a windswept seaside in Northern Ireland, looking rather morose.

But a new behind-the-scenes video from the photo shoot shows that the atmosphere on set was anything but gloomy.

The first video shows the cast both posing for the shoot and goofing off between shots. Charles Dance (Tywin Lannister) nurses a cup of tea, Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister) huddles in Kit Harington’s (Jon Snow) Night’s Watch cloak, and the entire cast and crew struggle to stay tidy in the wind gusting in from the sea.

The video also offers our best look yet at Jaime’s new golden hand, which suits House Lannister perfectly.

In the second video from the set, the cast shares their thoughts on who ought to win the Iron Throne at the end of the series. Some members of the cast have rather more radical thoughts than others.

Iain Glenn (Ser Jorah) is clearly a Targaryan loyalist to the core, while John Bradley (Sam) votes for anyone but Joffery. Jack Gleeson, as Joffery himself, adds his voice to the chorus of those who call for Hodor’s crowning. Tyrion Lannister is also a popular choice, and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister) reveals an anarchist bent, calling for the dissolution of the entire monarchy.

In the third video, the cast offers much-needed advice to their characters.

Trust, self-empowerment, and honesty are among many of the themes offered by the cast, but we are partial to the advice of Rory McCann as Sandor Clegane. “Stay away from fire!” McCann laughs. “No fire!”

Game of Thrones season 4, episode 1, “Two Swords,” will air on April 6 at 9:00 p.m. on HBO.

What advice would you give to the players in ‘Game of Thrones’?
