The Game of Thrones final episode is only days away, but fans are already calling for the season to be remade in a new petition.

Game of Thrones fans have been invested in the goings-on in Westeros since 2011, but with the series finale only days away, fans are asking for change. After Sunday’s episode “The Bells” aired, fan furor over the show’s final season reached a new high.

A change.org petition has been created, “calling for a season 8 remake of Game of Thrones ‘with competent writers.'” Fans haven’t been thrilled with the final season of the epic fantasy series, but after “The Bells” aired, the actions of characters like Daenerys Targaryen and Jamie Lannister left a lot of fans upset and wanting something more.

The blame, according to the petition, lies squarely on the shoulders of showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss. In addition to a storyline that fans have felt is rushed or ill-conceived, the season has also been rife with errors like using different wigs on Daenerys in the same scene or leaving a coffee cup on a table. The hope is that this petition could right these wrongs with a season 8 reshoot.

Of course, this isn’t the first time Game of Thrones has come under fire. The show has received a significant amount of criticism over its use of rape as well as its treatment of people of color.

HBO hasn’t really been moved by fan outcry in the past, and likely won’t be compelled to make a change after this petition. After all, the show is pulling in huge numbers, despite the negative reviews. Variety reports that “The Bells” was “watched by 12.5 million viewers in the U.S. on its initial broadcast and by 18.4 million across all HBO platforms.”

Still, the petition has also raked in some pretty high numbers. While the initial goal for the petition was to snag 15,000 signatures, it now has over 300,000 calling for a season 8 reshoot. The petition creators have updated its goal to half a million signatures.

With the Thrones finale airing on Sunday, we’ll have to see how the fandom responds to Benioff and Weiss’ vision for the conclusion of the epic show. Perhaps HBO will respond to the petition, but with the series spinoffs in the works and huge ratings, cries for a season 8 remake will likely go unanswered.
