Executives from HBO have said that are unconcerned about Game of Thrones overtaking George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series – yet.

George R.R. Martin’s famously stately writing pace isn’t an issue to HBO executives, Access Hollywood reports. Speaking at a Television Critics Association meeting, President of HBO Programming Michael Lombardo said that he had no worries for the production of Game of Thrones season 5.

“George is an integral part of the creative team,” Lombardo said. “At least with respect to next season, every step, every move is being choreographed very closely with him.”

But Lombardo did acknowledge the book-related pressure that hangs on Game of Thrones. The show’s fourth season came to the end of several story lines left dangling in A Dance With Dragons, the fifth and most recent book in Martin’s series.

“Certainly after next year, you know, we will have to figure it out with George if his book’s not finished at [that] point,” Lombardo said. “But we’re in conversations with him. We’re not concerned about it.”

“In equal importance, David and Dan are in constant communication and conversation with [Martin],” Lombardo promised. “So they’re working as they always have, very closely to model the future [of ‘Game of Thrones’].”

“So, no,” the executive concluded, returning to Martin and his unfinished series. “We’re not losing any sleep over that.”

In related news, George R.R. Martin himself recently addressed the concern of some fans that he may not live to complete A Song of Ice and Fire. The question of what will happen should he die before finishing the series is frequently directed at the 65-year-old author by people who appear to be out of touch with common decency, and Martin’s response was appropriately succinct.

“Fuck you, to those people!” he laughed, raising his middle finger for emphasis.

Game of Thrones season 5 will return to HBO in Spring 2015.
