The production team from Game of Thrones won 6 awards at Creative Arts Emmy Awards that took place Sunday night. Their tally was more than any other show present.

Although the Creative Art Emmy Awards are not as well known as the version that heavily favors the performance categories that is slated to air on ABC six days from now, the awards earned here are no less prestigious.

According to the official Emmy site:

The collaborative nature of television, which was stressed throughout the night, is the essence of the Creative Arts Emmys, which this year honored excellence in more than 70 categories. Much of the ceremony is devoted to recognizing members of the production team whose expertise is vital to television production, including such disciplines as casting, cinematography, picture editing, sound editing and mixing, technical direction, special visual effects, hairstyling, makeup, music, art direction, stunts and more.

Below are the categories in which Game of Thrones won followed by the episode(s) that were submitted in consideration for the award.

Longtime viewers of the series are probably most familiar with costume designer Michele Clapton who frequently is pictured in behind-the-scenes featurettes that are found online after each episode. Clapton often recounts the extensive details that go into each and every costume that give the series its signature look.

In an interview with the LA Times right after her nomination was announced Clapton stated, “Ninety-nine percent of the costumes are made in-house, in Belfast. We have everything on site: our armorers, our weavers and our embroiderers. We weave our own fabric with our loom — many of the fabrics are literally made from scratch.”
