In preparation for the April premiere of Game of Thrones season 4, HBO will release a mixtape of music inspired by the first three seasons.

Fans of hip-hop and Game of Thrones have more than just season 4 premiere to look forward to. Today, HBO announced the release of a Game of Thrones-themed mixtape titled “Catch the Throne,” which will take fans on a musical reprise of the show’s first three seasons.

Comprised of ten exclusive tracks, “Catch the Throne” will include music from several well known hip-hop and reggaeton artists, as well as newer talent – all of whom are fans of Game of Thrones. The show’s enduringly popular theme song (from series composer Ramin Djawadi) will be performed by Wale. The show’s first season will be reprised in tracks by artists Big Boi, Bodega Bamz and Magazeen. Season two will be covered by Daddy Yankee, Kilo Kish and Dominik Omega, and season three by Common, Snow Tha Product and Dee Goodz.

The genesis of “Catch the Throne” came from HBO’s desire to inspire more casual fans to revisit the historical fantasy series. HBO’s Lucinda Martinez calls the mixtape “a unique opportunity to give fans great original music and an innovative way to highlight the electrifying Game of Thrones series.”

All ten tracks of the “Catch the Throne” mixtape will be released free on Soundcloud as of March 7. Game of Thrones fans in Austin, TX can catch the album’s kickoff at Game of Thrones: The Exhibition, which will be an installment at the upcoming SXSW festival.

Game of Thrones season 4 will premiere on April 6 at 9:00 p.m. on HBO.
