A 90-second preview of “Gale Song” off The Hunger Games: Catching Fire soundtrack has been released!

“Gale Song” is by The Lumineers, and this 90-second preview confirms that the live performance we heard last month sounds very similar to how the song was recorded in the studio. Listen to the somber “Gale Song” below:

“Gale Song” is about a man who’s watching a relationship, a girl, and a missed opportunity. It’s reflective of the struggle Gale goes through in The Hunger Games series as he watches Katniss and Peeta develop a relationship in the public eye. Director Francis Lawrence said in a recent interview that a love triangle will be evident in Catching Fire.

A sample of the “Gale Song” lyrics:

“It’s a lonely road
For the tired man
And they can see it in your face
And you’ll be home in spring
I can wait till then
I heard you’re on the big train

And all this too shall pass
This loneliness won’t last for long
I wasn’t there to take his place
I was ten thousand miles away
So when you hear my voice
Will you say my name?
And never forget the pain”

Earlier this week a 90-second preview from Of Monsters and Men’s “Silhouettes” was released.

The Catching Fire soundtrack will include a slew of high profile artists including Christina Aguilera, Coldplay, Lorde, and Imagine Dragons. The album will be released on November 19, and the movie will hit theaters two days later on November 21 with screenings beginning at 8 p.m. in select theaters. The film opens nationwide on November 22.
