Gal Gadot is bringing one of Israel’s top dramas to the US, as she is producing an adaptation of the series Queens for American audiences.

Gal Gadot and Jaron Varsano are setting out to executive produce an adaptation of the hit Israeli drama Queens for American audiences under their company Pilot Wave Productions. Endemol Shine Israel is producing the second season of Queens in Israel, and the new season is set to premiere in Israel in 2020.

It’s not surprising that there is interest in bringing the drama to American audiences. Queens ’ first season premiered in 2018 and was the most-watched show on the channel HOT in Israel.

As Variety reports, Queens tells the story of the women of the Malka family (who are also a crime syndicate) who band together after all of the men in the family are murdered by a rival crime syndicate. As the women are thrust into a life they didn’t necessarily want or choose, they realize they are in charge of their own destinies and begin to take charge of their own lives as they fight to stay alive.

While it doesn’t seem that Gal Gadot will be a part of the actual cast of the American version of Queens, she will be a part of the team adapting the story for American audiences. As she and her producing partner said in a comment, the show celebrates women.

“We are so excited to celebrate these women through the Queens story. These complex characters are captivating, delightfully funny and emotional. It is rare to find content that conveys characters in such a truthful way, while mirroring society. We are looking forward to bringing their story to the world and working with the Endemol Shine team on this project.”

Queens sounds like a pretty exciting show, and it’s always wonderful to see a story that celebrates different kinds of women. And with someone like Gal Gadot as a part of the team bringing the show to America, this has the makings of our newest television obsession.

Sharon Levy from Edemol Shine North American echoed those sentiments saying, “It’s gratifying to see a series that treats women with a deft complexity, showcasing that our differences are the strengths that unite us.”

We can’t wait to hear more about this show as it makes its way to the United States!
