A third role in Warner Bros.’ Batman VS Superman has been revealed: Gal Gadot will play Wonder Woman.

Gadot is best known for her role as Gisele in the Fast and Furious series. She is an Israeli actress and model.

She also spent two years in the Israeli military, most likely honing her skills as a fighter, which should certainly help during her new superhero role.

Director Zack Snyder has released a statement about Gadot’s casting. The Man of Steel director says, “Wonder Woman is arguably one of the most powerful female characters of all time and a fan favorite. Not only is Gal an amazing actress, but she also has that magical quality that makes her perfect for the role.”

Ben Affleck, who has been cast as Batman in the film, recently discussed his role in the film and says that after some time discussing the character and film with Snyder and the film’s writer David S. Goyer, Affleck was reportedly won over.

Henry Cavill will reprise his role as Superman from 2013’s Man of Steel. Man of Steel went on to garner fairly positive reviews and pulled in a worldwide total of $662 million. The film has sparked a series that director Zack Snyder will helm, along with David S. Goyer, who wrote Man of Steel and also penned the script for the sequel.

Gal Gadot is a solid choice for Wonder Woman, as she gained quite a bit of experience with fighting sequences in the Fast and Furious series, as well as substantial stunt work.

It’s unclear if Wonder Woman will be fully fleshed out in Batman Vs Superman, but Zack Snyder appears to be excited about casting her as the popular female superhero.

She certainly does have the “magical quality” that Snyder mentioned in his statement about her being cast. While Gal’s frame is thin, she definitely has the exotic look that is needed.

We’ll be excited to see how involved Wonder Woman will be in the Man of Steel sequel, and while the list had grown long for who should play Wonder Woman, we’re surprised and excited to see that Gadot has won the role.

She’s certainly a beautiful brunette, with great fighting skills honed in the Israeli military, and we can’t wait to see what Snyder has in store for us in terms of how much he’ll be adapting or changing Wonder Woman’s costume to fit in his world.

Let us know what you think about the casting of Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman.

Batman Vs Superman, which we’ve now found out is most likely a placeholder title, has its release date set for July 17, 2015.

Thanks, Variety.
