Casting for The Last of Us series on HBO is picking up steam— catch up on who’s signed on to star in the forthcoming video game adaptation.

Update (6/30/2021): According to Deadline, actress Nico Parker has officially signed on to join the cast of the upcoming HBO adaptation of the hit video game franchise, The Last of Us.

Parker, who Disney fans might recognize for her role in the studio’s live-action Dumbo, will take on the role of Joel’s 12-year-old daughter, Sarah Miller.

Prior to the outbreak, Sarah lived in Austin, Texas with her father, where she had a wide range of hobbies including playing on the youth soccer team, hiking, and skateboarding.

Parker is the latest actor to join the cast of the Craig Mazin helmed adaptation.

Just last month, it was announced that actress Merle Dandridge had also signed on to join the cast of The Last of Us.

Dandridge is no stranger to the post-apocalyptic world that gamers were first introduced to when the video game of the same name was first released for PlayStation back in 2014.

In the past Dandridge has voiced the character of Marlene in both The Last of Us as well as in the 2020 sequel, The Last of Us II. She’ll be reprising the role of Marlene for the upcoming HBO series adaptation as well.

For those who need a bit of a refresher, Marlene serves as the head of a resistance movement called the Fireflies, who are fighting for freedom against the military regime.

Merle Dandridge joins a cast that already includes Bella Ramsey and Pedro Pascal, who will take on the main roles of Ellie and Joel, respectively.

In addition, S.H.I.E.L.D. vet Gabriel Luna has also recently joined the cast of The Last of Us on HBO. You can read up on who he’ll play in the series adaptation below.

Original Story (4/15/210:

HBO’s The Last of Us has found its Tommy in Gabriel Luna.

According to Variety, actor Gabriel Luna is the latest to join the cast of HBO’s highly anticipated series adaptation of The Last of Us.

Based on the popular video game of the same name, the series takes place in a post-apocalyptic world, two decades after modern civilization has been destroyed.

It’s there that we meet Joel, a man who gets hired to smuggle 14-year-old Ellie out of an oppressive quarantine zone. It’ll be easier said than done though, and together, the pair find themselves going on a harrowing journey in which they must depend on each other in order to survive.

For his part, Luna is set to take on the role of Joel’s younger brother Tommy. Tommy is a former soldier who still holds hope for a better world despite all that’s transpired.
