Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2 has lost its spot as the fourth highest-grossing film of all time.

The seventh installment in the Fast and Furious franchise has just surpassed the eighth and final film in the Harry Potter series. As of this writing, Furious 7 has made $1.348 billion worldwide, beating Deathly Hallows, Part 2’s $1.341 billion box office generated in summer 2011.

Since it’s only been a few years since the final Harry Potter movie hit theaters, adjusting for inflation would bump Deathly Hallows, Part 2 back up to number four, but only for a short period of time. Furious 7 – a worldwide phenomenon – has many weeks left in theaters across the world.

In case you’re wondering, The Avengers sits at number three with $1.518 billion, Titanic is at number two with $2.186 billion, and Avatar is at number one with $2.788 billion.

It’s very possible that The Avengers: Age of Ultron, which has already opened in many international markets and opens in the United States this Friday, will succeed the first Avengers to take the number three spot on the above list. At the time of this writing, Ultron has made $250 million overseas.

Looking ahead, Star Wars: The Force Awakens will probably join the top five by early 2016. Poor Harry is slowly but surely falling!

Box office spectators are also eager to see if Age of Ultron will become the film with the highest-grossing opening weekend in domestic history. The Avengers currently holds the title with $207 million and Iron Man 3 is in second with $174 million. Furious 7 is in ninth with $147 million (the highest for a Fast and FuriousAvengers sequel at a $210m – $230m weekend opening.

We’ll get some answers to the above Avengers questions beginning this weekend. Age of Ultron hits U.S. theaters tomorrow, May 1.
