Looks like Funko will soon be following in the silver screen footsteps of Lego and Barbie.

According to Deadline, Warner Bros., have officially optioned the rights to Funko— the popular collectible vinyl figures based off of characters from franchises like Harry Potter, Star Wars, and much more.

As part of the deal, Warner Bros., Warner Animation Group will be tasked with developing and producing a big screen adaptation based on the coveted collectibles.

In a statement announcing the forthcoming Funko movie, Warner Animatio Group’s executive vice president, Allison Abbate, spoke of how much the studio is looking forward to bringing Funko collector’s favorite figures to life on the big screen like never before.

“Their fresh take on pop culture makes these figurines incredibly applying to fans o all ages,” said Abbate, who will also be managing the studio’s partnership with the toy company.

Meanwhile, Funko CEO Brian Mariotti also weighed on on how excited they are for the collectible figures to hit the silver screen.

“We’re thrilled for this opportunity and are committed to making an amazing Funko movie that stands on its own merit,” said Mariotti. “This isn’t about selling toys or building a brand. The team at Warner Animation Group have a unique vision of what the first film should be and we are extremely excited to take this journey alongside them.”

Unfortunately, despite teasing that Warner Bros. has a few ideas with regards to the direction they might want to take a Funko movie, neither Mariotti nor the studio offered up any details with regards to what the plot of the movie might entail.

One thing they also didn’t mention was which Funko figures we may see portrayed in the movie. As Funko collectors know, there’s no shortage of fandoms represented amongst the cute vinyl figures.

Though we’re sure we’ll see some WB entities like Harry Potter and DCEU represented in the film given that the studio already owns those properties, it’ll be interesting to see what other pop culture references they add into the film.

There’s currently no word on when we can expect the Funko movie to hit the big screen, but we’ll be keeping tabs on more information on the film as the project moves further and further into production!
