The Frozen soundtrack was #1 this week, for the seventh week in a row.

It sold over two hundred thousand copies this week alone, likely due to the DVD/Blu-ray release and continued momentum from the Oscar win.

Of greater significance is that many of those albums were sold digitally, and Frozen has now become the best-selling digital soundtrack in history. It has sold 781,000 digital copies, out of 1.66 million albums total. That enabled it to surpass the Pitch Perfect soundtrack, which was the previous record holder with 760,000 digital copies. Rounding out the top three is the Twilight soundtrack, with 742,000 digital copies sold.

The soundtrack is expected to stay at #1 next week. There’s no stopping this momentum!

Frozen is seeing success in all of its forms, since the DVD sold 3.2 million copies on its first day alone. Have you purchased your copy yet?

Also in light of the Oscars, “Let It Go” finally cracked the top five on the Hot 100 Songs chart. That makes “Let It Go” the highest-charting song to win an Oscar since “Lose Yourself” twelve years ago. It also makes Idina Menzel only the second ever Tony winner to have a top five hit (the first was Harry Belafonte in 1957). And the other Frozen songs are feeling the love as well – both “Do You Want to Build a Snowman?” and “For the First Time in Forever” are also in the top 70.

“Let It Go” won the Oscar for Best Song, giving Robert Lopez an EGOT. Frozen also won the Oscar for Best Animated Feature, giving Walt Disney Animation its first win in the category.
