You’d think that becoming the highest-grossing animated film of all time would warrant talk of a sequel, but Disney CEO Alan Horn says nothing of the sort is happening with Frozen.

Speaking at the Bloomberg Business of Entertainment Breakfast in New York on Tuesday, Horn said that a Frozen sequel hasn’t been discussed, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

On the one hand, the news will come as a pleasant surprise to those who are weary about studios taking profitable films and pumping out a sequel right away because they know it’ll be a safe way to create a box office hit whether or not it’s actually a good movie.

On the other hand, there’s the very likely chance that Disney will discuss Frozen 2 at some point, and it will almost definitely be green lit. Frozen has been such a huge success (it ascended to the #6 position at the all-time box office earlier this week) that the thought of a sequel cannot be ignored.

The good news is that Disney will probably take their time on a sequel so they can be sure that they have a story in place that lives up to the original. Producing a bad follow-up would tarnish the Frozen name which currently couldn’t be regarded any higher.

One area of the Frozen franchise Disney is actively discussing is the Broadway adaptation. They’ve already launched a very simple website where fans can sign up for updates. In interviews over the past couple of months, the studio says they’re going to take their time on the Broadway show to make sure they get it right.

How do you want to see Disney proceed with a ‘Frozen’ sequel?

Also at the entertainment breakfast yesterday, Horn said that he is flying to England tomorrow to go over the Star Wars: Episode VII script with director JJ Abrams. Horn believes casting announcements are due soon as we approach the production’s start in May.
