The Mouse House is serious about putting together a Frozen musical for Broadway.

Disney has made comments in recent weeks about their interest in turning their latest (and very successful) animated movie into a franchise, and one way they’ll accomplish that is by creating a Frozen musical.

Though we still have no clue as to who will develop the project or when it may hit the stage, Disney has launched a website at FrozenTheMusical.com.

At present, the website only offers the title and a place where you can sign up for e-mail alerts to learn about new announcements when they’re made.

Word of a Frozen musical first came from Disney CEO Bob Iger who said in a January interview that they are “not demanding speed, we’re demanding excellence” concerning its development. In a call with investors last week, Iger reiterated their plans to create the musical and hinted at hopes for sequels, theme park attractions, and more.

Frozen has continued to see huge success at the box office since its November debut. It has grossed $913,778,000 worldwide and $368,678,000 domestically. The later statistic makes it the third most successful movie released in 2013.

The film is nominated for Best Original Song and Best Animated Film at the 2014 Oscars which are to be held Sunday, March 2.

Disney re-released the film in theaters at the end of January as a Sing Along.

So is today’s website launch exciting? Not necessarily, but it proves how serious Disney is about getting the ball rolling.
