Two Frozen deleted scenes have been released online in the build up to the film’s home entertainment release this March.

One of the two Frozen deleted scenes premiered on MTV’s website and depicts a playful moment between Elsa (voiced by Idina Menzel) and Ana (Kristen Bell) as they share a dressing room. The scene is fun and fits nicely into Frozen’s sense of humor, but as directors Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee explain, the problem is that this would’ve put the two princesses together when in fact they have to be separated (“Do you want to build a snowman?”).

In another scene, Ana meets Kristoff (Jonathan Groff) and Sven for the first time. He’s in town to share news of Elsa’s whereabouts and tries to pretend that he belongs to a royal family.

The Frozen deleted scenes are not animated because studios do not fully animate scenes until it’s definitively decided to include them in the film. The videos above are what are considered story boards which give the directors a rough sense of the film’s scenes and overall layout.

Frozen arrives on DVD and Blu-ray on March 18 and includes the following special features:

– The Making Of Frozen (Blu-ray, Digital)
– D’frosted: Disney’s Journey From Hans Christian Anderson to Frozen (Blu-ray, Digital)
– Breaking the Ice – The Real Making of Frozen (Blu-ray, Digital)
