Frozen 2 helmers Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee have an idea for their sequel which tackles modern issues for boys, girls, women, and men.

Speaking recently in support of Frozen Fever’s (that’s the short film) Blu-ray release, Buck and Lee were naturally asked questions about Frozen 2 which Disney recently confirmed is in development.

“We’re just starting [on the story],” Buck told MTV News. “Jen and I are just getting back into the story room together and throwing ideas around. We have an overall idea, a concept, which I think is a very strong one. I’m very excited about doing it.”

Frozen 2’s directors said that the new movie’s plot will continue to hold the spotlight on Elsa and Anna, the two princesses who starred in the first movie. “We have two very strong female leads in Frozen,” Buck said. “We will keep that going in the next one.”

But what will it be about? Said Buck, “We will tackle other issues that, I think, are out there today that boys and girls, men and women, are dealing with.”

That’s an interesting tease. What types of issues could they be referring to that people are dealing with “today”? Topics like acceptance and equality are certainly at the forefront of the media these days, so those issues are the first that come to our mind.

Since this is a Disney film primarily aimed at kids, we doubt Frozen 2 will be about things like wage inequality, healthcare, Benghazi, or Donald Trump. Surely the plot will examine some sort of social issue that Elsa and Anna can tackle with Olaf and company.

Buck added he was “very aware” of what is happening in society, furthering our assumption that this story will look at something we see in the media. “I don’t think any of us take [the films] lightly, even though they can be very funny and entertaining, the messages that our movies have and the influence they can have on young people,” he said. “When the kids [watch] them, they watch them over and over again, and if we don’t have a decent message in there, I think we’ve missed an opportunity.”

We all know how many times some kids have seen Frozen, so we completely agree with this thought process.

Frozen 2 is expected to hit theaters in a few years from now.
