Frozen 2 has officially surpassed its predecessor to become the highest grossing animated film of all time.

After only seven weekends in movie theaters, Frozen 2 has snowballed to more earnings than any animated film before it, including the original Frozen movie! According to Box Office Mojo, the film has brought in over $1.3 billion during its run, narrowly beating out Frozen’s $1.27 billion.

Rounding out the top five highest-grossing animated films ever are Incredibles 2 with $1.24 billion, Minions with $1.16 billion, and Toy Story 4 with just over $1 billion. 2019’s computer-generated The Lion King tops them all with $1.6 billion, but as that was considered a “live-action remake,” it is not included in the list.

Frozen 2’s huge box office take is a significant part of Disney’s impressive and record-breaking $11 billion year at the box office. The Lion King, Avengers: Endgame, Captain Marvel, Spider-Man: Far From Home, Toy Story 4, Aladdin, and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, which continues to earn big at the box office, also played a huge role in this milestone.

Frozen 2 remains in theaters worldwide and continues to perform well. It will definitely set a difficult record to beat for future animated feature films.
