Jason Momoa’s Frontier season 3 “making of” video is everything you’d expect from the actor — wild, crazy, and awe-inspiring.

If you’ve seen Frontier season 3, you’ll know the show got even more intense than it already was — and that is saying something. It brought us some of the series’ lightest and darkest moments, and Declan Harp found himself once again at the mercy of man and Mother Nature.

But as intense as it was on screen, it was maybe even more so behind the camera. Momoa put together a behind-the-scenes video of what took place while they filmed Frontier season 3, and he shared the first half of the documentary on January 26. You can watch the eight-minute video below:

Why is it that everything Momoa does is so goddamn intense? But I guess we should be grateful because it leads to the making of some incredible art.

Throughout the video, the actor talks about the lengths they went to shoot the incredible scenes in season 3, including the roads they (literally) had to build and the terrain they had to cross. Stunt doubles and cameramen might not get the acclaim they deserve on screen, but Momoa made sure their heroics were front and center for his documentary.

It was also wonderful to hear Momoa talk about the camaraderie he has with the cast and crew. The way they all support each other, despite the harrowing conditions, is inspirational, and that kind of relationship is mirrored on screen. This show wouldn’t be what it is if everyone wasn’t working harmoniously and determinedly toward the the same goal.

Part 2 landed on February 6. You can watch that below as well:

The second half of the documentary is a little quieter than the first video, but just as emotional. In this one, Momoa talks about the love of his crew and how excited he was to direct for Frontier. His work ethic is admirable, and it’s obvious that everyone on set respects him immensely for it.

And all of that certainly shows on screen.

Interestingly, Momoa also mentioned in his Instagram post that, “Season 4 is gonna get dark.”

First of all, how is it going to get darker than him ripping someone’s head off their body, spinal cord still intact?

But secondly, this is the first we’ve heard of a possible Frontier season 4. It hasn’t been officially renewed yet, but it’s clear Momoa is down for the show’s continuation. If they’re tossing ideas around for season 4, we can only hope it’ll get picked up again, barring any major conflicts.

When Frontier season 3 wrapped up, I immediately wrote about how Frontier season 4 could make or break the series. I love what the show has done so far, but it’s definitely transitioning to something new. While I’m excited to see what that brings to the table, I’m definitely hoping the writers and creators take their time developing the next portion of the story.

But, like, not too long.
