In a new Noble Intentions video, Fringe star John Noble rehashes last Friday’s season 5 episode, “In Absentia,” and talks about Walter’s state of mind.

In the Noble Intentions series released by Fox, John Noble discusses each new episode of Fringe as it airs. This week he rehashes the second episode of season 5, “In Absentia.”

The video includes a clip from the episode, in which Walter is communicating what he knows to future resistance members, using a video tape recording – one of many, that the Fringe team now has to track down.

Bishop reveals that he had a lot of fun filming the video clips, imagining how much Walter would have enjoyed making those. He makes up whole backstories about what Walter is thinking as he records these little pieces of the puzzle that will hopefully hold the answers the Fringe team members are seeking.

He likens the experience of Walter watching the clips back to watching an archival tape, except it’s himself, “the same age, made all those years ago, before the invasion took over. Only on Fringe.”

Fringe returns Friday with episode 5×03 “The Recordist.” The Fringe team will encounter a group of human survivors in the woods, who have taken it upon themselves to record human history – but it appears they have been infected with a mysterious disease, which threatens to take Walter and Olivia, as well!

The episode airs 9/8c on Fox.
