A new Fringe season 5 promo has been released, showing Etta’s way of dealing with loyalists and what lengths Peter will go to for saving the world!

The second episode of Fringe‘s fifth and final season, “In Absentia,” airs this Friday. And as great as the first episode was, it looks like the show is only picking up the pace from here on out:

Not only does this new “Saga” promo contain a great little Lost nod (the hatch moment), but we also learn a lot about what our characters will be facing – and how they’ll cope with it all!

Walter’s old lab is revealed to have been ambered, and when they catch an Observer loyalist, Olivia walks in on Etta torturing him for information. Clearly, Etta’s worldview is much more black and white than her mother’s; “This is war, and we’re losing,” she reasons.

But when Peter and Olivia later discuss how much the world has changed (while Olivia seems to be tattooing a loyalist symbol onto Peter’s cheek), Olivia says, “I’m not sure I want to understand it.”

Peter goes undercover as a loyalist, and we get to see just how great of a length Etta is willing to go to get the information they need.

“We have to win,” Olivia says at the end of the promo. “So that all the people that died didn’t die for nothing.”

Chilling! Are you excited for the final chapter of the Fringe saga? Do you think it’ll be tough for Peter and Olivia to accept their grown-up daughter, considering how hardened she has been by the war she was raised during?

Episode 5×02 “In Absentia” airs this Friday at 9/8c on Fox! Check out the promotional images released from the episode and the promo, and join the discussion of Fringe and all the other fandoms we cover over on the Hypable forums!
