Joshua Jackson, best known for his roles on Fringe and Dawson’s Creek, has been cast in the new Showtime pilot The Affair.

We are happy to report that Joshua Jackson (alias Peter Bishop, alias Pacey Witter) will soon be back on our screens – playing a cowboy. Yes, that’s right.

Showtime’s new drama pilot The Affair has added the actor to the cast, which already boasts Dominic West (The Wire, The Hours), Ruth Wilson (The Lone Ranger, Luther) and Maura Tierney (The Good Wife, ER).

The Affair is described as, “An intense and intimate exploration of two marriages and an affair that disrupts them – with all of the complex consequences that result.”

Breaking the traditional model of television storytelling, the story will be told both from the male and the female perspective during the one-hour pilot episode.

In the press release, it is further revealed that Jackson will play the role of Cole, “a hard-edged cowboy” with a ranch in Long Island. He is married to Wilson’s character Allison, “a young woman, working in a pancake house, trying to piece her life back together in the wake of a tragedy.”

Naturally, this marriage will be “emotionally charged” and provide a lot of depth and drama for the pair, especially when Allison begins an affair with Noah (West), who is married to Nora (Tierney).

The Affair is written by Hagai Levi and House of Cards‘ Sarah Treem, and the pilot will be directed by Mark Mylod (Shameless).
