Fringe is two episodes into season 5, and now Joshua Jackson has some exciting teasers about what’s in store for Peter, and big surprises coming up!

In the first episode of season 5, our characters began acclimating to the year 2036, getting acquainted with Etta, the now grown-up daughter of Peter and Olivia.

Speaking to EW, Jackson says that there are more surprises in store for the fans in this fifth and final season. He says that episode 5×04 is a game changer for Peter, and that we’ll learn what his biggest challenge is in this new time and place.

“There’s pretty major revelations through this three-act play that we’re doing, but for [Peter] there’s a pretty major shift that comes after [episode] 4,” he says. “One break from the routine leads to disaster. I mean, really f–king major disaster. And if that sense of dread permeates the show this year, I think that’s really good.”

He also teases a big moment which happens in the first batch of episodes, saying, “This is one of those things you don’t want to tease it too much, because maybe everyone will be like, ‘Eh.’ The thing that we reveal in the episode that we’re shooting right now is — if you’re geeked out on the mythology of the show, it is going to be one of those knock-your-socks-off moments.”

We can’t wait to find out what it is! Fringe is good at surprising us with completely unexpected twists, and we’re sure the final season will not disappoint.

The second episode, “In Absentia,” airs this Friday at 9/8c on Fox. You can read the official episode description, and check out the promo here on Hypable. And don’t forget that you can join a lot of other fans in discussing Fringe and all the other fandoms we cover on the Hypable forums!
