With the return of Peter and Walter encased in amber, Fringe wastes no time as they begin their search for Olivia in the season premiere.

FOX released the official episode description for the final season premiering Friday, September 28 at 9:00 p.m.:

The fifth and final season picks up from the ominous events of last season’s “Letters of Transit” episode, in which the year is 2036 and the overpowering Observers rule. The Fringe team – preserved in amber for 20 years – is now a rebel resistance team fighting for freedom. Peter, reunited with his now adult daughter, Etta, sets out to find out what happened to his wife and Etta’s mom – Olivia – as they start their mission to save the world from the Observers in the “Transilience Thought Unifier Model-11.”

We’re loving the reference to the Bishop family! This synopsis definitely paints a certain family adventure-type portrait in our brains as we imagine Peter and Etta working together to find Olivia. The last Peter saw her, Etta was only a child and now he not only has to deal with him being the father of a fully grown woman but now he’s lost in a world completely different to his own, where the Observers are in charge and his family is the key to stop it.

We’re unbelievably excited to find out if and how they find Olivia, and if our earlier reports of character deaths will have anything to do with this initial disappearance. So far we haven’t seen Olivia in any of the promotional footage, not counting the heartbreaking scene of the family’s separation. It has to make us wonder…where is Olivia and why is she missing?!

Plus, we also get our first look at Walter and Etta in the first promotional still from episode one. There’s not much to speculate on, but it is great seing grandfather and granddaughter together in one still.

This final season is bound to be packed with action, mystery, and answers. So tell us:

What are your theories on Olivia’s disappearance?
