Sorry Friends fans, but it looks like you shouldn’t hold your breath when it comes to any sort of reboot of the show.

There’s no denying that Hollywood has been hit with reboot and revival fever.

And, with many of our favorite ’90s sitcoms making a successful comeback on network television, it seems only natural to wonder if perhaps a show as big as Friends might be considering following in the footsteps of Will & Grace, Roseanne, and many more.

Unfortunately, it looks as though any dreams fans may have of the hit sitcom returning with brand new episodes is dead in the water.

Speaking at a panel celebrating the Friends 25th anniversary at this year’s Tribeca TV Festival, co-creator and executive producer Marta Kauffman was quick to shoot down reunion and reboot rumors.

“We will not be doing a reunion show, we will to be doing a reboot,” said Kauffaman at the festival on Friday night according toDeadline.

From there, Kauffman also pointed out that “the show was about that time in life when friends are your family,” but that there also comes a point in life where that dynamic changes and “your family becomes your family.”

In addition, the co-creator revealed that they’re not interested in revisiting the story because no new material could compare to what was done.

“We did the show we wanted to do,” added Kauffman’s co-creator and executive producer David Crane. “We got it right, and we put a bow on it.”

While some fans of the sitcom might be sad to hear the creative team isn’t interested in revisiting the show, we’re sure it’s also easy to get where Kauffman and Crane are coming from.

As the saying goes, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”
