When The Voice‘s Frenchie Davis belted “I Kissed A Girl” during her season 1 audition, she meant it. The powerhouse singer came out in a new interview.

“I wasn’t out before the relationship, but I wasn’t in,” she told The St. Louis Post Dispatch about her relationship with her girlfriend. “I dated men and women, though lesbians weren’t feeling the bisexual thing. Now I’m in love with a woman I think I can be with forever.”

She has since tweeted about her revelation.

Frenchie was a semifinalist on American Idol in 2003, but was disqualified when topless photos of her surfaced. She went on to star in Rent on Broadway and in the national touring company of Dreamgirls, before auditioning for The Voice in 2011, where she placed fifth.
