Some good news out of Freeform on the Shadowhunters front! The network will match the #SaveShadowhunters campaign’s donation to the Trevor Project.

After more than a few missteps by the network, Freeform has announced that they will recognize the incredible efforts of the Shadow Fam and donated a total of $25,000 to The Trevor Project.

Shadowhunters fans have done the heavy lifting for the promotion of the series since the cancellation was announced in May 2018. From renting plane banners to billboards to subway ads, these efforts have been a visual beacon of the power of the fan base.

But the efforts to bring visibility to the series were not entirely focused on bringing attention to the show, but giving back some of what the series has offered to them.

The series features characters that make fans feel seen and represented. It has featured incredible stories, emotional character journeys, and spread the message of fighting for what and who you hold closest to your heart. In an effort to give back some of what the show gave them, the Shadow Fam raised money for the Trevor Project, an organization that provides crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to LGBTQ youth.

Currently, without Freeform’s total, the campaign is the third leading fundraiser.

While it has been a rough road coming to terms with bidding farewell to the series, Freeform’s efforts to recognize the incredible fans of the series helps a little bit.

Shadowhunters airs Mondays at 8:00 p.m. ET on Freeform.
