The creators of The Lizzie Bennet Diaries, Welcome to Sanditon and Emma Approved have announced their next project.

Pemberley Digital, the team behind the Emmy award-winning The Lizzie Bennet Diaries took to Twitter today to share the exciting news with their fans. The series will be called Frankenstein M.D., and will be produced in conjunction with PBS Digital Studios. The new series is expected to debut in the fall.

Frankenstein M.D. will once again bring a classic work of literature into the modern day. Pemberley Digital said, “The series reimagines the title character as Victoria Frankenstein, an obsessive, eccentric prodigy determined to prove herself in the male-dominated fields of science and medicine.”

The company had hinted last week that the genre of their next show might surprise some fans. Showrunner Bernie Su has previously expressed hopes that the next show will premiere prior to the end of Emma Approved, which is currently at episode 48. Flagship adaptation The Lizzie Bennet Diaries ran 100 episodes.

This news will be welcomed by fans, who are awaiting the return of Emma Approved, which is currently on a second hiatus. The hiatus, announced last month, was the result of changes in the Emma Approved writing team. The web series adaptation of Jane Austen’s Emma, starring Joanna Sotomura and Brent Bailey, will return in June 2014.

Pemberley Digital fans are also eagerly anticipating the arrival of The Lizzie Bennet Diaries novelisation, The Secret Diary of Lizzie Bennet. The book, by Su and former Pemberley Digital writer Kate Rorick, will be released on July 1, 2014 by Touchstone Books.

The Lizzie Bennet Diaries fans can expect the book to expand on the videos and transmedia elements that comprised the original series. The book will cover Lizzie’s entire journey as a vlogger, beginning just prior to the commencement of her project and finishing just after.
