Frankenstein M.D. is the newest show from Pemberley Digital, and today the company shared the first details about what we can expect.

According to a press release from Pemberley Digital, the company behind web series hits The Lizzie Bennet Diaries and Emma Approved, Frankenstein M.D. will premiere on August 19 with three episodes. The series is being produced in conjunction with PBS Digital Studios, and the episodes will be uploaded to the PBS Digital Studios YouTube channel.

The 10-week series will comprise 24 episodes, which will be released on Tuesdays and Fridays and culminate in a finale that will air (appropriately enough) on Halloween (October 31). Each episode will run between five to eight minutes.

Pemberley Digital announced their new show back in May. Frankenstein M.D. will be a modern day adaptation of Mary Shelley’s classic novel Frankenstein. The twist in this new production is that the titular character has been re-imagined as Victoria Frankenstein, a female scientist. A full synopsis was released today, as part of PBS’ presentation to the Television Critics Association:

Victoria Frankenstein is a Ph.D./MD student focused on a career as a research scientist. With her colleague Iggy DeLacey (based on the iconic character “Igor”) and mentor, Dr. Waldman, the ambitious, daring genius is flipping the script and creating a new (self-titled) YouTube science show, explaining complex biological and medical concepts to a general audience. As Frankenstein pursues her boldest line of research yet, she makes a shocking series of discoveries that could potentially endanger not only her career, but her life and the lives of her friends.

Newcomer Anna Lore will play the titular role of Victoria Frankenstein. Steve Zaragoza (SourceFed) joins the show as Iggy DeLacey, with Brendan Bradley (School of Thrones) as Eli Lavenza, Sara Fletcher (One Love) as Rory Clerval, and Kevin Rock (NCIS) as Dr. Waldman.

Hypable saw a preview of Frankenstein M.D. earlier this week and can confirm that the show is highly comedic with a standout performance by Anna Lore, and features an incredibly high production value. We look forward to the August 19 premiere.
