The first trailer for Sundance hit Frank has been released, and it features Michael Fassbender wearing a giant head.

Frank premiered this January at the Sundance Film Festival and was a hit. The film stars Michael Fassbender (in a giant mask), Domhnall Gleeson, and Maggie Gyllenhaal.

The trailer was released on the film’s official YouTube page:

“What goes on inside the head inside that head,” Gleeson’s character asks about Fassbender’s titular Frank. The singular answer the trailer gives is “music,” but it looks like the answer to that question is far more intriguing and multidimensional.

Music will be an important aspect of the film, however, and the trailer shows that Frank and Jon (Gleeson) form a band that goes to the SXSW festival. There, it looks like some of Frank’s deeper issues will come to the surface.

When it premiered at Sundance, it received favorable reviews and was one of the most buzzed films that played. It currently sits at 90% on the movie review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, though not many reviews have yet been filed.

Frank will open May 2 in the UK, and its U.S. date has not yet been set, though it is expected to be released this year.

Official plot summary:

Frank is a comedy about a young wannabe musician, Jon (Gleeson), who discovers he’s bitten off more than he can chew when he joins a band of eccentric pop musicians led by the mysterious and enigmatic Frank (Fassbender) and his terrifying sidekick Clara (Gyllenhaal). Frank is based on the memoir by Jon Ronson and is a fictional story loosely inspired by Frank Sidebottom, the persona of cult musician and comedy legend Chris Sievey, as well as outsider musicians like Daniel Johnston and Captain Beefheart.
