911: Lone Star — Fox’s upcoming 911 spinoff series — has cast Liv Tyler as the the female lead opposite Rob Lowe.

Liv Tyler, known for playing Arwen in The Lord of the Rings series and crying over Bruce Willis’ death in Armageddon, has been cast in her first ever role on a broadcast series.

Deadline first broke the news that Tyler has been cast as the female lead in the Fox 911 spinoff series 911: Lone Star. Rob Lowe was previously announced as the male lead for the series.

911: Lone Star will center on Rob Lowe’s character, Owen, a New York City firefighter who moves to Austin, Texas with his son. There, he will try to balance saving people’s lives while also working to solve the problems in his own life.

Liv Tyler will play Michelle Blake, a chief paramedic who is described as being a little rock ‘n’ roll — and sometimes a bad girl — but always the boss. She’s compassionate and ruthless at her job, and as a person is both brilliant and wry. 911: Lone Star will see her matching wits with Lowe’s Owen — and sometimes putting him in his place.

She’ll likewise struggle with an obsession of her own — trying to find out what happened to her younger sister, Iris, who disappeared two years earlier.

Though this is Tyler’s first broadcast TV series role, she’s no stranger to TV series. She currently co-stars as Lady Fitzwilliam on Hulu’s Harlots, which recently finished its third season. She also previously starred as Megan “Meg” Abbott on HBO’s The Leftovers and recently was part of the BBC miniseries Gunpowder.

911: Lone Star comes from 911 creators Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Tim Minear. They will likewise serve as creators and executive producers on the series. Rob Lowe will serve as a co-executive producer.

The series will premiere Jan. 19, 2020, following the NFC Championship game on Fox. From there, it will move to Mondays while parent show 911 is on a midseason break.
