James Cameron’s Alita: Battle Angel will no longer be premiering later this year.

Fox is rethinking their release schedule for the next few months, and have decided to push the release dates of two of the biggest titles in their line-up.

EW is reporting that Alita: Battle Angel’s release date has been moved from December 21, 2018 to February 14, 2019. X-Men’s Dark Phoenix, which was supposed to premiere on Alita’s new date, will now premiere on June 7, 2019.

This is the second release date push for Alita, which was originally set to premiere on July 20, 2018. This latest move is likely to avoid the insane competition over the Christmas season. Alita was set to premiere directly opposite Aquaman, Transformers’ Bumblebee, Marwen and Holmes and Watson, with Mary Poppins releasing only two days before, on December 19.

Fox isn’t vacating the date entirely, however. In place of Alita: Battle Angel, they will unveil a PG-13 version of Deadpool 2.
