Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk have invented a “new” genre and a new show for Fox titled Scream Queens, an anthology with new female leads each season.

Scream Queens season 1 premieres in fall 2015 with a 15-episode order and “revolves around a college campus which is rocked by a series of murders,” according to a press release.

The plan is for each season to star two new female leads, and Fox must feel pretty great about the idea considering they already awarded it a straight-to-series order.

As an anthology, the show will essentially be rebooted each season (just like American Horror Story, True Detective, etc)

Said Ryan Murphy in a statement, “I knew I wanted to work with Brad and Ian again on something comedic, and we are having a blast writing Scream Queens. We hope to create a whole new genre – comedy-horror – and the idea is for every season to revolve around two female leads. We’ve already begun a nationwide search for those women, as well as 10 other supporting roles, and we’re very grateful to [Fox heads] Dana and Gary for their enthusiastic support.”

Fox heads Dana Walden and Gary Newman offered a little more on Scream Queens when raving about Murphy’s idea. “One of our top priorities at the network has been to get Ryan Murphy to create a new series for Fox,” they said. “We loved every element of the pitch for this show — the genre-bending concept, which blends true horror with big comedic moments; the diverse and unforgettable characters; and reuniting the phenomenal creative team that delivered Glee. Scream Queens will go straight to series. It’s a huge commitment and an expression of our faith in Ryan. We are ecstatic to have him, along with Brad, Ian and Dante, as our partners on this exciting ride.”

The show will be co-produced by Ian Brennan and Dante Di Loreto, who’ve developed American Horror Story and Glee with Murphy and Falchuk.

Murphy and company have been on a roll with television lately. In addition to their latest hit American Horror Story: Freak Show, FX has ordered another anthology from the team titled American Crime Series.
