Kevin Williamson, who currently serves as the showrunner for the two popular CW dramas The Vampire Diaries and The Secret Circle, has had a new pilot optioned by FOX, which has also picked up a Greg Berlanti/Marc Guggenheim project!

Deadline reports that FOX has greenlit Williamson’s serial killer pilot, on which he will serve as an executive producer. The project is described as:

An edge-of-the-seat thriller about a diabolical serial killer who uses technology to create a cult of serial killers, and the FBI agent who finds himself in the middle of it.

Williamson himself has responded to the announcement on Twitter, cryptically writing:

Meanwhile, FOX has also picked up another pilot, for a legal drama created by Brothers and Sisters‘ Greg Berlanti and Marc Guggenheim. The drama will be titled Guilty, and:

Centers on a brilliant, morally questionable defense attorney who, after being falsely convicted of fraud and stripped of his legal license, uses his unorthodox methods to solve the cases he’s been prohibited from handling and to ultimately exact revenge on the men who set him up.

Guggenheim himself is a former lawyer, and has experience with legal dramas, having been an executive producer on Law and Order (and more recently FlashForward). Berlanti’s other producer credits include No Ordinary Family and Eli Stone, and the two also collaborated on the superhero movie The Green Lantern.

These projects both sound promising! We hope their pilots do well.
