It looks like it’s the end of the line for 24: Legacy. Fox announced Wednesday (June 7) that it has officially decided to pull the plug on the freshman drama.

Despite the fact that 24: Legacy won’t live to see a second season, there’s still a bit of a sliver lining amidst the bad news for fans of the 24 franchise.

According to EW, plans are currently underway at Fox to reboot the franchise yet again with an all new cast. The outlet reports that the network is currently working with producers to create a new 24 series that’ll be more anthological than its predecessors.

As excited as we’re sure some 24 fans will be to hear that the series will live to see another rebirth, news of 24: Legacy is bound to come as a bit of a blow for others.

The series, which starred Straight Outta Compton’s Corey Hawkins, has been in limbo since Fox’s 2017 Upfronts presentation. While astute fans weren’t holding their breath for a second season given the series’ plummeting ratings and Hawkin’s other commitments, there was still a glimmer of hope to hold on to that perhaps the show would live to see a season 2.

Though there’s no set timeline for whatever Fox is cooking up next with regards to 24, we’ll definitely be interested to know what ends up transpiring— especially now that we know the network plans to re-develop the franchise somewhere down the line.
