Since Michael Bay’s recent announcement that the upcoming Ninja Turtle film reboot will feature the turtles as aliens, many fans have proclaimed their outrage that the movie won’t be true to the originals.  Former Ninja Turtle voice actors Robbie Rist (Michaelangelo) and Brian Tochi (Leonardo) have spoken out with very differing opinions regarding the interesting turtle-alien race decision.

Rist penned an outraged letter to Bay, stating:

“You probably don’t know me, but I did some voice work on the first set of movies that you are starting to talk about sodomizing.  I know believing in mutated talking turtles is kinda silly to begin with but am I supposed to be led to believe there are ninjas from another planet? The rape of our childhood memories continues.”

Probably to help with damage control, Tochi sided with Bay and said:

“If Michael Bay wants to do a different take on the turtles’ origin story … Mazel Tov!”

Judith Hoag, who voiced April O’Neil in the original Turtles movie, also defended Bay in his decision. Interestingly, Haog has worked with Bay before in Armageddon, Nightmare on Elm Street, and I am Number Four.

What do you think? Are you upset that in the reboot our turtle friends will be from a different planet? Or will you stand by Bay’s decision?
