Florence and the Machine, The Civil Wars and Dierks Bentley are among the eight artists booked for the upcoming season of MTV Unplugged.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the network is planning on producing eight performances this season – three episodes airing on MTV and VH1, with CMT airing two.

Unplugged – MTV’s acoustic music series – has been around since 1989, offering platforms to singers like Paul McCartney, Mariah Carey, Katy Perry and more. “This season will continue that legacy,” said the president of Viacom Music & Logo Group, Van Toffler, in a statement.

Unplugged has long served as one of the most intimate ways to celebrate music and artistry in its purest state,” Toffler said. “With this new season, kicked off by Florence + the Machine, Unplugged will continue to offer musicians the ability to rearrange classics, strip down their instruments and let their talent shine through on all our screens and across genres for fans to revel in.”

As the show’s exclusive sponsor, State Farm will be sending a fan and a friend to one performance.

Florence and the Machine kicks off the 2012 season April 8.
