The first Flash trailer was released yesterday and had some interesting hints about what is to come once the show airs.

We got our first look at the highly anticipated Arrow spinoff at the CW Upfront yesterday. The charming Grant Gustin received rave reviews in his Arrow debut, and the Arrow team has proven to have great attention to detail. Watch this combination in action in the trailer, then check out five moments that stuck out to us below.

Reverse Flash

In Barry’s introduction in Arrow, he shared his backstory with Felicity and Oliver: When he was 11, his mother was murdered by a blur that came into their house. Barry saw a figure in the blur before he ended up 20 blocks away, and his father was convicted of the murder. In the trailer, we get a glimpse at the night of the murder, including the mysterious blur. The figure appears to be wearing a yellow suit, a la the Reverse Flash, Barry’s arch nemesis in the Flash comics.

Papa Flash

John Wesley Shipp was cast earlier this year in a mystery role. However, Shipp, who played the Flash in the short-lived ‘90s Flash series, is seen in the flashback to Nora Allen’s murder as well as in an Allen family photo, indicating Shipp is likely playing Henry Allen, Barry’s father who is currently serving a life sentence for the death of his wife. The role is expected to be recurring.

Weather Wizard

The first metahuman Barry’s Flash is set to take on is named Clyde Mardon. It appears that Clyde gained the power to control the weather in the wake of the S.T.A.R. Labs particle accelerator explosion. In the Flash comics, Clyde is a scientist who develops the technology to control weather. He is the brother of one of Barry’s rogues, Mark Mardon, AKA Weather Wizard, who uses this technology for crime.

Ferris Air

S.T.A.R. Labs scientists Harrison Wells, Cisco Ramon, and Caitlin Snow take Barry to an air strip to test how fast he can run. The name on the sign? Ferris Air. Both Arrow and The Flash have referenced Ferris Air, which is a leading aviation corporation that once employed Green Lantern Hal Jordan.

‘Arrow’ crossover

In the Flash pilot, Barry seeks out the Arrow (Stephen Amell) for advice. In Barry’s Arrow debut, he created the Arrow’s domino mask that helped cement Oliver Queen’s transition to hero. Now, we see Oliver giving Barry a pep talk, which includes the idea for his superhero name. Hopefully we’ll see more crossovers down the line.
