HBO has adapted Gillian Flynn’s chilling novel, Sharp Objects, into a limited-run series, and the first trailer for the show will most definitely give you the creeps.

Gillian Flynn became an international sensation with her novel Gone Girl. The book and the 2014 movie captivated audiences and also seriously disturbed us all in some of the best ways. Well, if you missed the mind games that a good Flynn story could take you through, get ready because HBO has adapted Flynn’s novel Sharp Objects for television.

The 8-episode series stars Amy Adams and follows her character Camille Preaker. Camille is a journalist who must return to her hometown to cover the horrific murder of two teenage girls. Of course, while she tries to piece together the mystery, she also finds herself struggling with her own demons from the past as she identifies a bit too strongly with the victims.

HBO released the first trailer during the Westworld season 2 premiere. Though we didn’t get an official release date, we know the series will be headed our way this July.

Sharp Objects has collected an excellent team to bring this novel to the small screen. In addition to the amazing talent of Amy Adams herself, she is joined by other amazing actors like Patricia Clarkson, Elizabeth Perkins, Madison Davenport, and Chris Messina. Each episode of the series was directed by Jean-Marc Vallee, the director of each episode in Big Little Lies season 1.

We can’t wait to see what intense, unsettling, creepy drama lies ahead of us in Sharp Objects. However, with such a stellar cast and crew and brilliant source material, this is definitely not one to miss.
