Watch the first trailer for RED 2, starring Bruce Willis, John Malkovich, Helen Mirren, and Catherine Zeta-Jones. The sequel to the action-comedy Red reunites a team of retired CIA operatives as they use their “old-school style” to take on a new set of enemies.

RED follows Frank (Bruce Willis), a retired CIA agent who gets together with actress Mary-Louise Parker and his previous co-workers at the CIA to resolve some absurd conflicts – John Malkovich plays Marvin, the paranoid CIA retiree, and and of course hilarity ensues. During January of 2011, Summit Entertainment rehired writers Erich and Jon Hoeber for a sequel to RED after the film raked in $186 million on a $58 million dollar budget, which far exceeded expectations when the film hit theaters back in 2010.

Helen Mirren reportedly said back in March of 2011 that she would love to shoot RED 2 and soon after, Summit announced that it would move forward with a sequel.

Director Dean Parisot joined the project in early 2012 and while previously known for directing the sci-fi comedy Galaxy Quest and Fun With Dick and Jane, he’s now a director of multiple episodes of the hit TV show Justified.

Catherine Zeta-Jones and Byung-hun Lee also signed on to the project, which makes this star-studded film even more crowded than the first.

Anthony Hopkins was set to play villain Edward Bailey if he could resolve a scheduling conflict involving his role as Odin in Thor: The Dark World. While he doesn’t appear in the first trailer, he will be involved in the film.

David Thewlis will also accompany the cast as a character named ‘The Frog.’ According to THR, he receives this name by “poisoning the water supply at the Kremlin using a poisonous Amazonian frog.”
