A teaser for Illumination’s new adaptation of The Grinch released during the Olympics this year and gave us all a glimpse into the character’s secret dreams.

Illumination is bringing us a new, animated adaptation of Dr. Suess’ The Grinch Who Stole Christmas. We already know that Benedict Cumberbatch will be providing the voice of the titular character, but apart from that, we don’t really know what to expect from the remake.

However, during a telecast of the 2018 Winter Olympics, a new TV spot for the movie gave us a glimpse into a secret dream of the Grinch: figure skating. Indeed, it seems that even though the Grinch may have a heart that is two sizes too small, not even he is able to withstand the siren song of Olympic dreams.

Many of us likely watch the original 1966 cartoon or the live-action remake from 2000 every Christmas, so it will be interesting to see what the Illumination remake will have in store for us. However, with some of the posters from the movie featuring a young-looking Grinch and this teaser giving us a peek into mean old Mr. Grinch’s secret dreams, we can probably expect this film to follow the backstory-heavy Jim Carrey version pretty closely.

And even though we all might have a bit of reboot/remake fatigue, this story is such a classic that we get why a studio would want to update the story. We’re glad that kids today will get their own version of The Grinch to grow up with. We can’t wait to see what adventures are in store for us when we return to Whoville on November 9!
