The first screening of the first six minutes of The Dark Knight Rises must have just let out, because celebrities and movie news notables have taken to Twitter to express their enthusiasm.

Like many followers on Twitter, our feed was just crammed with film-makers giving their quick two cents on the Dark Knight Rises prologue.

Here are some quick reactions courtesy of CBM

“TDKR IMAX prologue was amazing. I didn’t think he could, but I think Nolan has done it, he’s made a movie to top TDK. Holy shit so good!!

There is Catwoman, Bane, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, it looks like everything I could’ve wished for and more. Nolan, such a brilliant filmmaker.

Aiden Gillen and Josh Stewart figure into the prologue but the whole things kicks off with Gordon talking about Harvey Dent.

New Bat logo is very cool! Prologue features some exciting acrobats. A must-see in IMAX format. Definitely worth seeking out those theaters.

Nolan shows us a visual spectacle we’ve never seen before, in crystal clear amazing IMAX.”

Although we have nothing in terms of a confirmed description, there are still plenty of rumors and theories floating around. The real deal should be online in a matter of hours, so lets go ahead and reflect in the mystery while we still can.

Keep in mind, none of these are confirmed and are being posted purely for the sake of speculation while we wait for the real description.

From Rocketman on SuperHeroHype

Josh Pence / Young Ra’s Al Ghul is in this significantly, along with a Young Bane.

We are getting the League of Shadows. (We knew this)

We see a friendship between Little Boy Bane and Little Talia, and believe it or not, this is going to mirror Young Bruce and Rachel in the very first scene of Batman Begins when they’re children. We won’t see footage of this scene intercut into the prologue, but the word “mirror” is written a few times. There seems to be a huge deal of “reflection” happening in this movie. Things will mirror other things. I have no clue what that means, but it seems fascinating. Talia is to Bane what Rachel was to Bruce – not really a lover, not really a sister-figure, but rather a good friend who shared childhood memories together, some being traumatic.

This “Unnamed Mad Scientist” that we’ve seen around the sets, played by Alon Aboutboul, is the guy who essentially “created” Bane, and he is a bastard. He performed horrific experiments on him and it will be in the prologue. This man has supposedly helped to create the “Doomsday” device that we’ve seen in the pictures, but I use the word “Doomsday” because I haven’t been told what it is.

The result of Bane’s health condition comes from a fire (as we all probably could’ve guessed). Ra’s Al Ghul’s wife (Talia’s mother) is trapped in this fire with Bane, along with Talia. Ra’s has only time to save Talia and Bane, but Bane is the last to escape and is severely injured / scarred. This is “tough to watch”, and mirrors Harvey Dent barely making it out of the warehouse. Ra’s’ wife is viewed as a “witch”/”gypsy” in their village, and Ra’s is a “wizard”. They’re essentially “burning the witch at the stake”, and Bane is an unfortunate casualty. (Again, a mirror to his supernatural side) – Villagers arrive with torches like it’s the townspeople arriving to kill Frankenstein’s monster – in this case, the monster isn’t Bane – it’s Ra’s’ wife.

The brief snippet of Bane crawling up the well in the teaser will be in the prologue. This is part of Bane’s training, administered by Ra’s. Again, this will “mirror” the very first scene of Batman Begins, when Young Bruce falls down the well. It’s essentially the same exact shot. Young Bane RISES UP, Young Bruce FALLS DOWN.

Among the Batman Begins shots inserted into TDKR: Bruce with longer hair and beard walking through the Chinese prison, Bruce inhaling from the bowl of the hallucinogen, Bane being one of the masked LOS members who was standing in the anonymous pack while Ra’s sicked bats on Bruce from the chest. We see Liam Neeson, but not in terms of new footage here.

From Popcynica:

Just saw it and I tried to write down everything I could, but like I said I only saw it once and the excitement was getting to me so I may not remember every little bit of dialogue. Anyways, it starts with a couple along with a young boy, maybe like 7 years old i dont know, arriving in the Dominican Republic. The movie points out that their flight came in from Spain. Next we see them having fun on the beach, the moms sun bathing and the dad and son are playing. They speak a little in spanish but i guess its not important because its not subtitled. I don’t speak spanish. When they are getting ready to leave the boy is carrying a tote bag and a teddy bear drops out. His dad says something like “Antonio, we mustn’t forget out friend Osito. Yes?” and gives the bear back to his son.

Next they’re in the city and kid is doing this like tight rope walk along a railing and then dismounts like an amateur gymnast. His dad says in spanish “Tono stop that and come here” and he’s standing by a taxi.

They get into the taxi and a rough looking man gets in the front passenger seat and one opens the back door where the family is. The thug getting in back picks up the kid and kinda tosses him onto the dad forcibly.

Of course the wife is screaming and the thug punches her. The husband tries to stop the thug and is kinda doing ok against him but gets clocked in the head with the butt of a gun from the guy in the front passenger seat. We see the outside of the car and both the husband and wife are pushed out of the taxi and it takes off with the kids inside. This all happens really fast.

They put a black sack over the kids head. He reaches down and picks up the teddy bear and holds it.

The parents are immediately approached by a man not as tough looking at the 2 thugs. He speaks English and says something like “now we have your son. if you want him back you pay $1,000,000 US or he’s dead. You go to police, he’s dead. You tell anyone, or if I think you’re up to something funny, he’s dead. Understand?” The wife is still crying. The man shakes his head. “Tomorrow then, and remember no one else is to be involved” he says and walks off.

The couple are alone now, the man says “darling, dont worry. Ill make a call and those fools will be dead before sundown.” everything in this part is in english.

The mom gets crazy at the guy and says “no! you heard him. we’re paying the money and getting our son back!” they argue but i dont have what they said. She doesnt come right out and say it but the wife blames the husband for what happened. The man seems confident he can use outside non-police help to rescue his son but his wife forces him to just pay the ransom. The guy wants to get someone else to bring the money but the wife still refuses because the kidnapper said nobody else can know about this.

The next day the couple are walking and the man has a brief case with him. They meet up in an alley with the kidnapper from before. They hand over the brief case and the kidnapper says “Mr. Dorrence, you’ve made me very happy. You see, 2 months ago I was hired to kill you. Not only will I do that, but you’ve delivered a bonus to me as well. the people who hired me are not pleased about that stunt you pulled in Honduras, do you know how much it costs to install a puppet dictator? Yes of course you do. You helped fund it, right?” Then the kidnapper says something in spanish and shoots both of them and flees. he runs out the alley and the taxi from before pulls up and he gets in.

The taxi heads into the the slum part of town. We see the kid locked up in like some kind of dingy storage closet, he’s in handcuffs and there is a window pretty high up but theres some bars or wire on it, not sure really what it was but it doesnt look quite as sturdy as what we have here in the states. he hears some people talking. We see outside the room inside the house and its the kidnappers. This part is captioned and the thugs are saying something like “did you finish it?” and “its done” then “go take care of the boy”.

Now we go back into the storage closet and the kid is looking to escape. he drops that teddy bear he has and tries jumping up to the window but cant reach. We see one of the thugs carrying a gun and walking towards the storage closet.

Then the kid jumps again and ends up catching his handcuff chain on one of the bar things covering the windows, so for a second he’s kind of dangling from it. Then he plants his feet on the wall and pulls on the bar until it comes off and he crashes onto the floor. of course this creates a lot of noise and we hear someone yelling something. The kid looks up at the window for a second and back at the door.

We go back to the thug with the gun as he’s entering the storage room. He opens the door, but doesn’t see the kid. He says something angry that wasnt captioned, the boy is hiding behind the door and he’s holding the teddy bear and we see him take out a knife from out of it. This next part is crazy, the thug turns around to leave the room and the kid comes runs out and actually climbs his way up the dude’s back like some kind of monkey and gets to his shoulders and slits the guy’s neck with the knife. The thug fires a shot off and the bullet just hits the floor and he falls.

Then we see the head kidnapper and a thug talking. They seem to notice that one guy hasnt come back yet. And one thugs starts going down the hall, we see the kid is hiding behind a corner and when the thug passes he uses that same knife to cut the achilles tendon in the thugs ankle. he screams and falls down and theres blood spurting. actually at this point I think there is more blood in this whole prologue than there is in both of the new batman movies.

The kid goes in to kill the thug on the thug and he hears the head kidnapper behind him, looks back and see him pointing a gun towards him. he grabs the thugs gun and then dodges out the way and throws the knife in mid air at the head kidnapper. The head kidnapper fires and ends up shooting the thug on the ground. He gets hit with the knife in the forearm and reels back, dropping the gun.

The comes out after the gun hits the ground and shoots him in both knee caps, the head kidnapper is on the floor and the kid just approaches him.

the guy says “antonio, so you’re just as ruthless as your father was. but just like your mother, he’s dead now.”

The kids seems pissed.

“i didnt take this job for the money. it was because of what he did to my people. he came in town with a group of men and they killed as many people as they could find and set fire to it all. Why? because america decided they wanted to send a message because we accepted money from russia. they wanted us to know that communism were a bad thing, so they hired your father. do you know the name he uses ? his professional name? the name my people have curse? We call him Bane. I see he taught you very well in the art of death.”

then the kid says “he didn’t train me to kill, just to not care”. im pretty sure this is the only thing that kid says in the prologue.

then he shoots the guy and walks out the door and we him in this foreign, scary looking place.

One thing I have to say is that even though I hate the idea of a Robin in these movies, I loved this. The rail walk and the climbing/sprint up the thug reminded of Robin and I loved it. Also this kid is killer deadly, if he can kill three men as a boy imagine what he can do after a lifetime?

From an unconfirmed source:

It is one of the assassinations ordered by Ra’s al Ghul. A mind blowing action sequence set aboard the Hercules plane, involving some innovative camera work a la Inception hallway fight scene. Bane and his mercenaries hijack a military plane transporting a dictator of a country which is in unrest (think Saddam Hussein type figure). He successfully kills the leader, but makes some mistakes along the way and is unable to safely land the plane. Because of the resulting injuries from the accident, he has to undergo complicated surgeries and that is how he winds up with that scar down his neck and the need for the mask to numb the pain.

UPDATE: ComingSoon has posted a very light description of the scene, and it seems that the description featuring the Hercules Plane above might be the most accurate description!

Even though the opening shot takes place immediately after The Dark Knight and features Commissioner Gordon speaking at Harvey Dent’s funeral (and is shot in 35mm), the footage moves immediately to IMAX and the events that transpire during the hostage situation discussed in the viral documents. There, we’re treated to a hostage transfer and the reveal of Bane aboard a private plane and an ensuing fight that takes every advantage of the IMAX frame. Think less The Dark Knight and more Inception or, even closer, an IMAX version of a James Bond film.

In his introduction, Nolan stressed the importance of returning filmgoing to the grandeur that it was for him as a child, warning that said scale, “is being chipped away at in all kinds of ways.”

Though the response from the crowd was overwhelmingly positive, there was much discussion about Bane’s voice. Muffled by his mask and featuring a British accent, it’s difficult to fully understand exactly what he is saying (but likely intentionally).

At the conclusion of the footage, there’s a rapid montage of shots, all in IMAX, that feature a lot to excite fans, the most intriguing of which is Bane carrying a shattered half of Batman’s mask.

“I’ve barely started to edit the rest of the film,” Nolan cautioned with a laugh, “so don’t ask me what happens at the end or anything like that.”

UPDATE #2: According to AnaMariaBahiana (translated using Google translator, so some of the wording is a little goofy):

Very chic-model in his usual black suit with a vest-Christopher Nolan greeted the guests at the door of the IMAX theater complex at Universal with the pride of his father in party school. Cold Thursday night in Los Angeles, and the room was full of IMAX not as one would expect: a lot of people discouraged to learn that the much hyped “session mystery” of The Dark Knight Rises have only 9 minutes.

“I know it’s weird to come here just for a few minutes, but I really wanted you to have an idea of how the movie is in IMAX,” Nolan said. “It is a technology created in the year I was born, but is still the greatest picture quality I know, and more immersive way of enjoying a movie. It is my contribution to prevent shrinkage of the film, which unfortunately has happened in recent times. ”

The lights go out (SPOILER you may find what comes next …) and the black screen you hear the voice of Gary Oldman / Commissioner Gordon said “Harvey Dent was my friend. I believe in Harvey Dent. “Quickly things are less philosophical: there is an action of the CIA, hooded men, Dr. Pavel (Alon Aboutboul) of the viral campaign defechada today (Thursday) afternoon, medical equipment, Bane (Tom Hardy) and the most incredible airplane hijacking at least I’ve seen on film. Here are pictures of the Batmobile Gotham by shooting, angry crowds, the Catwoman in all its glory.

With music by Hans Zimmer pumping and images of Tom Hardy, Joseph Gordon Leavitt and Marion Cotillard at times one gets the impression of seeing Inception . And if you found it difficult to understand what Christian Bale says when he puts the mask of Batman, expect to (try to) hear the grunts of Tom Hardy behind your gadget Bane …

The giant IMAX screen actually puts the viewer into the action, and it is understandable why Nolan would prefer this format to 3D that charms so many of his contemporaries.

And suddenly … done, finished, and many applause. “Do not ask me what happens after that,” Nolan joked. “I am now beginning to assemble the film.”

More relaxed after the show, Nolan talked about his passion for big cuts: “I fell in love with cinema, the cinema of my childhood and adolescence, was the great movie, which I carried in addition to everyday life. That’s always been my goal as a filmmaker, to recapture the magic of cinema. “On the replay of so many actors in Nolan’s Inception has a simple explanation:” Why not reuse such wonderful actors who fit the roles so perfectly? Yes, I am privileged to have this opportunity. ”

This appetizer (or “prologue,” as Nolan calls it), reduced to seven minutes, will premiere in the United States in the next 16 days and 21 days in Britain, before the views of Mission Impossible 4 . “It is a strategy already used in Dark Knight and that pleased me, “says Nolan.

Of course, Nolan does not expect everyone to go see Dark Knight Rises in IMAX, in July – after all there are only 100 screens around the world. “Fans will not have trouble finding places that are showing the film in 35 mm. But I hope they make an effort to see in IMAX, not having to wait a little longer. I thought the movie of this size, filmed with these dimensions. It’s an epic. This is how it has to be seen. “
