In a new picture tweeted by Ian Somerhalder, we have our first look at Damon Salvatore for the sixth season of The Vampire Diaries! But what does it mean?
Despite The Vampire Diaries crew being hard at work filming the sixth season, we don’t have so much as a still or promotional photo for when the series returns this October. However, we do have a first look at Damon Salvator thanks to actor Ian Somerhalder.
Why is Damon all bloody? The crew is currently working on episode 5, so could it be that Damon and Bonnie are returning from their, er, trip? The possibilities and theories are endless! Maybe Damon and Bonnie get off to a not-so-friendly start in this new world and he ends up feeding on her for sustenance.
Earlier this year we spoke with executive producer Julie Plec about where Damon was, and she explains that “where [Damon] is, why is he there, where it is, and how [Damon and Bonnie] get out are the big questions that give us the first run of episodes this season.”
Do the first five episodes count as the first run of the season? We were initially thinking that the first 12 episodes would be about their return, but maybe Plec and company have a different plan. Whatever it is, we’re excited to have our first look at Damon Salvatore this season.
Still itching for more Vampire Diaries photos? We have a feeling the promotional material will be hitting us soon, seeing as Paul Wesley recently instagrammed a couple videos of the main cast doing their annual photoshoot two weeks ago.
